Major change in how media files are displayed. When linking to images in forums, users will no longer use getfile.php urls. Instead, a traditional URL will be used to link to images, sounds, and videos to prevent embedding problems with several popular message forum software packages. This will also ensure more successful downloads of videos and sounds from member registry entries.

Changed all storage routines for posted media within the vehicle registry. Media now resides in its original form on the server drives instead of being stored as a BLOB in a database table. This was done to improve performance but more importantly to improve the time required to backup data. Data recovery and table repairs would require significant downtime to the site should an index file on the database table become corrupt. Data backups also meant downtime for users while the database table was being copied to a backup. When a database table is being backed up or restored, it cannot allow any other queries against it to prevent further data corruption. With media files now stored locally on server drives, data backups are painless and transparent to the visitor.
