Will ship my 2011 Crown Vic LX with 239hp with me on an overseas tour. How do I get it ready for the German Autobahn?

Was thinking I needed to make my LX look and feel like a P71 - I will afterall be limited to 120 mph without a change correct?

I'm going to bust somebodies bubble. The differences in the civilian CV and the P71 is in the tune. The P71 were tuned for higher idle rpms, quicker shifting, and a higher top end (about 140 MPH). However, since the 2004 models, they were all set up the same (except for the higher top end. This all can be taken care of with a tune like that from SCT or a custom tune. Go to www.crownvic.net and check out some of the posts about tunes.

The suspension is heavier duty, almost like a truck, but not quite. It was designed for minor off-road chases and for longevity. All the parts from a P71 will fit the LX, but be prepared to pay for them, as they ARE more expensive because they are heavy duty. Changing the shocks, sway arm bushings, and wider wheels and tires will get you real close to the feel of a P71.

One thing I would advise is to be sure you have the 12in rotors on the front for brakes. I believe after the 98 models Ford installed the same brake systems, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Going overseas to Germany, just do a good tune-up, changing all fluids and filters, and you should be taken care of. On the Autobahn, if someone pulls behind you flashing their lights, move over. You are going too slow.

STOCK?? I bet it was modified.

13.26 @ 107.24 MPH 1/4 mi w/ me, tools, & full tank of 93 octane

I added CAI, NICHE 19 X 8.5 " wheels with 245/45ZR 19 rubbers, and completely rebuilt the front end with poly bushings, Kooks headers, 2 1/4inch exhaust, TCI 2200-2400 rpm Stall converter

.PLANS:: engine upgrade, 5.4L 2v stroker, rebuild interior in leather w/ buckets, thinking about turbos

Thanks JD, that was an eye opener. Car now sits at the Ford dealer in Annapolis MD waiting for the shipper to pick it up. Just wanted to know what I could have the Ford dealer do to it before it got on the boat.

On a side note: I ordered the honeycombe grill on ebay
I also ordered the OEM steel rims to use as snow tire rims - they want you to change over every year in Oct. I also ordered the Ford center hub caps to make it look like a P71 - so you see, I have already gone down that road. Just did not understand the air gap between my 2011 LX and the P71 - I am now a bit more clear. Wonder if I can find a chip tune place here in Germany for my CV.

I like the look of your P71, will copy the size: 19 X 8.5 with a 245/45ZR tire for my summer tires. I'm sure Tire Rack has them as they ship to an APO.

Could use a new speedometer if I do chip tune - got any ideas?

What about the drivshaft - does it have to be upgraded to do 140 MPH?

Thanks again for the education.

Peace, Toyster

Admittedly, navigating the remote control helicopters is not an easy task. It takes hours or even days of practice how effectively to maneuver the RC helicopter. While a navigator is still practicing how to pilot The RC helicopter, it is best that the person only fly the helicopter in a wide and open field.
