Kits to upgrade from the bolt-on GEN-II and GEN-III radius-rods to the weld-on GEN-IV kits are now available. If interested, click on my username & send me an e-mail. |
wish I would have stepped up and bought the bolt on ones
Would really like a set but not sure I really want to tear down my rear end to weld on |

What needs to be torn down? Have you ever received my info-pack? I've installed a few, and never disassembled anything off the trucks other than the useless OEM snubber style traction bars. |

I agree, I prefer the bolt on setup. Look at these. http://www.calvertracing.com/caltracs.html
A friend put them on his truck and loves them!! |

Those are some very nice traction bars, but they are not radius-rods ... and yes, there is a difference between the two. Look closely at the Caltrac photos and think about how it will work. Their design prevents forward axle movement, and because they are hinged to allow rearward axle movement, they will prevent spring-wrap only during acceleration ... not when braking. Granted, they are a fairly stout improvement over the OEM traction bars but will do nothing in regards to eliminating the wandering issue, and it is the wandering ailment which many folks complain about with the X. The radius-rods are designed to keep the rear axle in a controlled arc, something the Caltracs cannot do. |

HOLY CRAP!!! I cannot believe the difference the rods made. I have a 31ft travel trailer that was fairly scary to pull. Expansion joint, pot holes and especially semis would pucker my ass everytime even with my sway control and load levelers. So needless to say I was very anxious to see how well they really worked. Well lets just say the 2hr drive was very pleasant and not stressful in the least bit even in the major downpour I drove thru. Now in all fairness I installed a pair of V code springs in the front at the same time so I know that helped smooth the pot holes out quite a bit. The biggest difference I noticed was now the truck tracked straight at all times. Semis did not phase me one bit only very strong cross winds would make the truck wiggle the slightest bit. I felt so confident that I was finally able to pull out around slower cars with confidence knowing the trailer would not pull me all over the road. Thanks Ken for the great product, my wife is already starting to plan long distance camping trips for the family.
