You're thinking well along the right track (I like that). I'll need to check with my parts guy to see if Ford has a different bump-stop part number for different model years. My fear is that Ford's supplier ... or multiple suppliers ... simply provided whatever they made under a single part number. If the 2003 bump-stop is indeed a different part number, then it should be viable that an air-bag system could be utilized with the GEN-II radius-rods when using the '03 bump-stops.
BTW, if any of you find out about the part numbers before I do, please post your findings here. Thanx!
ADDED 12/13/06: The GEN-II radius-rods were superceded by the GEN-III style. The GEN-II style is no longer available, and trimming bump-stops is not required with GEN-I, GEN-III, or GEN-IV radius-rods.
Well my parts contact informed me today that there are a BUNCH of part numbers for those metal bump-stop arms. The best bet is Ford PN 3C7Z-5598-AA which was used in 4x4 Excursions from 11/4/02 to 7/14/03. Sorry, but since I won't be buying any, I didn't inquire as to the list price.
So, it's a safe bet (not a guarantee) that the GEN-II radius-rods can be installed with those bump-stop arms without having to notch them ... which means they can be used WITH air-bags. I say no guarantee because there's another part number 3C7Z-5598-AB annotated as "4x4 Diesel Only from 7/14/03" ... and the '03 Excursions on which I installed r-r kits were all diesels.
Looks like I'll have to revise my info-pack again.

What, if any, changes would be required to fit radius rods to an '05 diesel with a four-inch lift block on the rear (to match a four-inch lift spring on the front)?
Once again i am entertaining hte idea of buying these rods.
I am looking at several trips with the boat this upcoming season.
Two questions, how do i know what 'style' i have. It is a 2000 V10 4x
I will be putting on the Hellwig bar and 9000 shocks. Also more then likely either the firestone or airride bags/compressor.
I understand there are different versions for different years and applications.
Last question, i am trying to understand how this system would not prevent the axle from vertical movement? I see how it will prevent horzontal, or front to rear, but it also looks like it cuold impair natural spring compression? Or possible reduce it to make a harsher ride?
