I have a 2000 Excursion with a gray interior. And I would like to buy a factory roof mounted DVD player for it. I know some people that could wire it up for, I just need the player and the console for it. I am not having very much luck finding one. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, John.

John,
Save your money and check a reputable shop for aftermarket stuff. You will be much happier and it will certainly be more expandable. Just my 2 cents.

John,

I 2nd that opinion... I had a 2000 and installed an aftermarket unit, roof mounted, looked factory... I have the factory installed unit now, no complaints at all but as others have said you can not expand the system, no big deal for me...

Thanks for the input.
The question now is, what do you do with the rear air controls in the middle of the roof? Is that where the DVD screen goes?
I guess I should stop into an aftermarket shop one day.

Thanks, John

OK.......here's my 2 or 3 cents!
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of nice aftermarket stuff.....but it can be overwhelming when you see what you paid for all that stuff and still wonder if you did the right thing. I have looked at a lot of Excursion's with video systems in them, and I think Ford did a great job with the factory style. I bought the same overhead console Birdman installed, then realized I changed my mind after I bought it (anyone want it?). I ended up coming across a factory setup from a wreck in the exact color I needed, so I grabbed it. The install was detailed, but very easy. I plan to post the pics in my profile (went into the wife's truck because I could not afford the PSD at the time, so she got it). Now I have my PSD version of the same truck, and looking again at the same scenario.......I would go back to installing a factory style again in a heartbeat if I could find one.

I still have the delaer's name that I bought the mount plate (replaces the factory console overhead mounts behind the headliner) if anyone ever needs the part# and cost data. Thanks for the pics to everyone with examples of their ground pounders!
