The question is, can this be done? I know the LX wheels have more offset, can I put spacers on to fit the 02 Grand Marquis. I know this will put more stress on the bearings and lugs, but the LX wheels look so much better!

I think the wheels LX could home in offset mode to be better with a special technique and I can help you change your LX wheels.

1.5" hubcentric spacers in front, 2" hubcentrc spacers in the rear and they will work.
