45manifolg.jpg I hadn't noticed (or maybe I just didn't want to) how bad the manifolds were leaking before I took the truck apart, so I didn't bother working on them while the engine was on the ground, or even after it was on the bare chassis.  Now that the body is assembled & looking better, the leaks are too noticeable to ignore, and more work to fix.  The LARGE soot patterns show just how bad the leaks are, and all the air leaking in between the puffs was making the oxygen sensor think the engine was lean, which is why it was running so rich to produce all that soot.  I expect the MPG to jump up, now...
