I owned an '04 diesel F350 for six years and got great mileage,20-23mpg until the injectors went. I'm looking at an '05 Excursion with the same diesel motor in it and I wondered what kind of mileage I could expect...if I'm just tooling along 70-75 mph.?? Did Ford fix the injector problems by 2005? Thanks for your help in advance

I have a 2005 Excr 6.0L PSD... I was told by my mechanic to expect this fuel injector problem is likely to happen... This is a stock 6.0L PSD thing i am told. That being said... I haven't had that happen yet. However... I am planning major upgrades to the entire vehicle. I purchased this Excr w/ 150K.... had all the fluids changed, EGR valve replaced, and a new alternator installed... and this week it goes through Phase 1of upgrades i have listed on my profile... This summer, Phase 2... You know the deal... a diesel has to breath, and be cool in order to keep the MPGs high... I am currently running at a dismal 13 mpg... but WY requires 20 minutes of warm up due to the extreme cold...

Mountain--no self respecting X owners allows dust in the engine compartment. The last 2 pictures with the ram air box show dust up around the firewall and a greasy reservoir. You can't let that happen!! Grease

Dave,
Dust & grease... well, that is the price one pays when their Ex actually leaves the asphalt. Yours is nice and clean though. I bet it simply shines, parked there in your driveway. A true soccer mom's dream ! Wow... and an upgraded sound system... very gangsta !

I admire the mud flaps though... very JC Whitney of you !
