After replacing the main bearings and an oil pump that was shot, i fired it up this afternoon and it sounds great. Still gotta get a radiator though. My extra had a 6" crack along the top. Oh well it's off to the boneyard. |

Sounds good! So everything else in the motor was good?
And your tellin me the oil pump was bad? You drove it 9+ hours on sunday and the internals still survived? awesome!

yeah with no oil pump it was probably a real wise idea to replace the main bearings.....How loud did the motor get before you got home?
Yomie do ya'll have a mechanic shop to work on your truck in on base? or is that only open to residents?

Yea, everything else seems to be alright for now. It was getting really loud by the time i got home. Main bearings were definately gone cause i could move the crank up and down with my hand about 1/8" to 1/4". Oil pump was still working but had serious grindage. Now it's all good though |

| There is a shop on base, it is very small, but since i'm working for a contractor, i technically can't use it. i have a friend that has access but sometimes it is to hard to find time we are both avail. I try to do most stuff at my house (limited tools)
Why whats up?

That's still not out of the picture. All depends on how this thing holds up once i start driving it around. So far i've only spent around $125.00 on repairs but i know when to cut my losses. Anything above say around $300.00 and i'll probably bail on this motor and go for the conversion. |
