antiwrap axle template.JPG | Hits: 2561 | Size: 59.69 KB | Posted on: 2/7/05 | Link to this image
I used two peices of 1/4" plate steel about 6" x 8" and made template to "fit" what I had. When I drilled the holes I had both peices tack welded together. then they were cut out with a plasma cutter. The diameter of the Sterling 10.25" axle is 3.5" and that is the cutout radius I used.

Too bad there were no pictures taken when I set my sock and foot on fire while welding the bracket onto the axle. I still have a small scar on my leg.

view of top antiwrap with dom in square tube.JPG | Hits: 1469 | Size: 94.81 KB | Posted on: 2/7/05 | Link to this image
The top and bottom bars are 1.5" x .25" DOM tubing. The top bar is about 36" long, the bottom bar is about 24" long. The square tubing I used on the top bar is 2"x2" 1/4". It is about 12" long with 6" of overlap on the DOM. There are two 7/16" "8" bolts holding it onto the DOM so it is removable. I used this approach so I could easly lengthen the top tube if I decide to move the rear axle back.

pic of shackle mount 37 inches by 2x3 inch 11 .jpg | Hits: 1814 | Size: 56.55 KB | Posted on: 4/28/05 | Link to this image
Picture of shackle mount while I was painting it. It is 37" long, 2"x 3" 11 gauge rectangle tube. There is a peice of 2"x2" square tube welded to it at 7" from left (driver side) to mount the actuall shackle. This peice mounts in the "drop" on the frame just behind the t-case. I used the holes from the annoying metal spikes that ford installes.

Side view of shackle mount. The front hole in the mount is where the shackle will bolt in. The top of the 2x2 was cut back to allow the shackle to swing forward and backward with the axle.

This is the template for the steel that welds onto the rear axle. The two peices are 1/4" steel that were 8 3/4" x 6 3/4" that I found in the steel yard. The short edge goes parallel with the ground. Refference Picture #1 while I was laying the cut out and picture #6 for the mounting.
