The Engine bay as we remove some stuff.
Shane trying to figure out the Plenum problem. By the way we let air outta the tires, Shane isn't really that tall.
The plenum bolt that had to be drilled out. The star pattern was stripped so we drilled it out.
127,000+ miles of grime on that intake.
One broken short block, ready to come out. It was about this time we realized the back two cylinders wouldn't move when we turned the crank.
Shane, getting the engine ready to come out.
The busted block outta the engine. Like my new oil filter, just put it in.
A shot of an empty engine bay, notice the scattered bolts below the windshield. This would prove to be a problem later.
another shot of the block.
Here is the problem, broken crank shaft.
Here is a close up of the same picture.
another shot. (There are many.)
Here is a shot with a pry bar pointing to the crack. (incase you didn't see it in the first 4 shots.)
And one more for good measure.
My new Grooms short block. Bored .40 over with the new comp cam already in.
Me painting the engine bay. One of the few things I was allowed to do on my own.
Cleaned the oil pan and valve covers.
Nice new GT-40 heads compared to the old crusty stock heads.
Comparison of the intake and exhaust valves between the two.
Stock exhaust manifold compared to the new headers. Notice the port size difference.
Picture showing the intake runners of the new GT-40 heads.
Here is the old head's intake runners, for comparison to the new GT-40 head's runners.
Painted the block, and everything else.
Engine with timing chain cover.
The new engine wanting to go to it's new home.
Here is the engine lowered in.
That's me doing something pretty important, I just can't remember what.
Yup doing something reaaaally important.
That's me working on getting the intake mounted. I finally got an important task.
Got the accessories hooked up and the lower intake mounted, which proved to be a difficult problem to over come.
Next we have the upper intake plenum, which is heavy, and a PITA to get set on it's gasket.
Plenum is mounted, it is starting to look like a real engine again.
That's Shane priming the oil pump.
Shane working on tuning the beast. Notice the dirty INSIDE of my hood, I was playing in some puddles (more like lakes) before the engine went, wonder if that had something to do with it.
