First you always need the right gear, Dremel drill, Jig saw, drill, duct tape, and of course Safety Glasses!
Hope I got the size right, aww crap too long.... Jig saw time....
Yes I'm doing this in my living room, Cut the shape for Plexi-glass and compartment door..
put ring/handle and hinges on for compartment door.
Liquid nail on some wood for the plexi-glass to rest on.
WTF!! $30 for a small piece of plexi!!!
here it is precarpet with the plexi just set in...
Putting sides under the "floor"
2 Jig saws dead, time for the dremel...
Ahh perfectly square..ish
This is thicker than I wanted to use for a mounting board on the bottom, when the stores open I'm going with 1/4"
WEll, this is what it looks like with the plexi in...
In the trunk.... Not a bad fit for a first setting.
it'll sit lower when I swap out the 5/8" bottom board for a 1/4" can't wait.
In the trunk with plexi, shold look clearer with the film off both sides.
Compartment open, enuff room of toolbox and fluids etc... Can't open with spare tire in.. going to make something to make the tire easier to move in and out or MAYBE go with a donut. Possibly take the hinge off and just make the door sit in..
Look ma, no hinges. This should solve the tire problem.
Blurry Picture? That's what it realy looks like when you put on a CD changer at 5am
Got the carpet, time to cut off the first piece...
Guide pins for mounting plate. Should allow me easier access when needing to change wires around.
No need to ever clean with all new ARM HAIR SAW DUST COLLECTOR!
Carpet is coming along nicely, thin enuff to form fit...
First done piece... fully wrapped in carpet since it is removeable from the car.
Glue the frame together.. hmm or not..
Frame fits, time for stain
Gudd stuff... why are my hands burning now? toxic? whaaa.........?
Waiting for stain and clear coat to dry.
Bah, I cracked a corner off the plexi, oh well can't see it anyway.
Anouther picture with the window in.
That's cabinet didn't need a door anyway, good for a mounting board.
decided against stain for the interior, I ran carpet with the lines going across the rest of the trunk.
Took the film off the window, nice and clear. Only thing left is to cut the carpet edges to fit.
IT's DONE!!!!! sorry no pics with the compartment open, it was sleeting
clips to be mounted inside trunk for quick sub removal
