Here's my tailgate. Bottom is totally rusted out. The Tension bar snapped a weld and took out my window

Remove driverside taillight. This is what it looks like if you do not have rear defrost. It will have 2 lights and 1-3 plug connector.

Here is what it will look like if you have rear defrost. It will have 2 lights, 1-3 plug, 1-1 plug connector & 1 ground wire that will screw into the panel under the lights.

Disconnect all the plugs and squeeze the Grommet and push it through the hole.
Next unbolt the Tension bar. Make sure that you close the tailgate as far as you can to make sure there is no tension on the bar at all. IT will throw that bracket really far.

DO NOT REMOVE!!! These 3 bolts. You can not get the tail gate out with the this bracket on. REmove the 3 bolts that are on the bottom of the tail gate.

Once the tailgate is disconneced remove the wire straps that are holding the tailgate up. Becarfull the tailgate is heavy.

New tailgate on. It's a was a bitch to get aligned right. IT still isn't perfect but it will be ok till I get new gate.
It looks ugly and is rusted all to hell, but the window works. So I'm good to go for labor day which was the whole point of putting it on anyways.
