I am in the process of fixing a 94 Crown Victoria ex-detectives car. The last thing it needs is the shift cable needs to be adjusted. The pointer isn't even close to showing the gear and the trans doesn't "clunk" into gear so I can't tell that way either. How do I go about fixing this problem??

That cable connects directly from the shifter on the steering console to the display. Just take off the steering console cover and you can place the vehicle in park and adjust the tension of the cable to make the arrow display the correct gear.
