This is why the conversion is taking place - a cracked vinyl top.

After taking tons of trim out along the headliner, and also the package tray and rear seat, the headliner comes down. Four door cars can take it out through the rear doors. Two door cars come out the passenger door.

The trim around the doors and windows is removed. The "LTD Crown Victoria" is also removed. The "Crown" trim in the center of the roof is removed as well.

Some of the green glue came off with the top (pray yours does as well).

Another shot of what was left after the roof peeled off. Luckily, no rust!

The semi-unfinished seam. The factory piled some seam sealer in the seam, painted the car, and then took a "cheese grater" to kind of smooth out the seam.

Most of the glue is now removed. The seam sealer is going to be ground out and replaced. The rest of the glue will come when the DA sander comes out.

The top in the process of getting sanded. If there is any rust, it will need to come down to bare metal in those spots. Also, any places you plan to bondo need to be down to bare metal if at all possible.

More sanding. The center had to come down to bare metal after this picture because of rust hiding beneath the paint.

What I thought was close to finished. I fixed the small dent in the lower right of this picture. I sprayed the center with primer and it became apparent that a ton more filler needed sanded out. The "pattern" in the middle of the roof eventually was spread out over the entire bondo patch.

This seam turned out pretty good the first time.
