I purchased a brushed aluminum trim cover for my gauge cluster.

Because I purchased a brushed aluminum panel, I had to use a primer to fill the small "brush lines". Furthermore, I wanted to ensure that the paint would adhere to the metal surface.

First coat of Medium Wedgewood Blue paint.

The finished panel, after many coats of Medium Wedgewood Blue, and two coats of clear top coat.

The following pictures document the removal of the gauge cluster and installation of the painted trim cover. First, the left and right hand finish panels must be removed.

Place the gearshift lever into first gear and place the steering column in the fully "tilted" position. Then, the instrument panel cluster finish panel must be removed, including the headlamp switch.

The next two pics are blurry but show the transmission range indicator cable. It must be unhooked in order to remove the gauge cluster.

Here's a pic of the transmission range indicator cable unhooked and unbolted.

Now, the four bolts can be removed and the cluster can be removed.

I used a 7/32" wrench to remove the bolts that hold the lense on the cluster and the cluster mask.

The trim cover comes with double-sided adhesive tape.

I went ahead and replaced all 20 of the #194 bulbs. Twist the black sockets to remove the bulbs and then pull the bulbs from the sockets.

Mission complete.
