This is how the neutral safety switch I made works. The shifter completes the circuit for the neutral safety ground input. The springs are isolated from ground (mounted to plastic), but tied to wires. The ground originates from the parking brake switch, so it must be activated inorder to remote start the car. This photo shows the shifter in 1st (or Rev), and the circuit is open, rendering the Remote start disabled.

This photo shows the shifter in neutral. The springs are both in contact with the shifter, so the circuit is complete and provides a ground to the remote start neutral safety input.
