DOWNTIME ANNOUNCEMENT 6/29-7/3
On Wednesday, June 29th, 2006, we experienced severe hardware failure on the SuperMotors server. The hardware failure was the result of our primary and backup drives simulatenously dying. The crash has forced us to resort to an old backup of SuperMotors from 5/14/06.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR USERS
New Users
Anyone who registered for an account on SuperMotors between 5/14/06 and 6/29/06 will need to re-register. You may do so at: http://www.supermotors.net/join/index.php

Lost Media Files
Any media files, registry entries, forum posts, or any data added to the site between 5/14/06 and 6/29/06 will need to be re-posted.

Hosted Websites
If we hosted your personal or club website, please contact us via the support page and provide us with your username and password so we may set you up again with hosting: http://www.supermotors.net/support

E-mail
For yearly subscribers who used our e-mail services, please contact us via the support page and provide us with your e-mail address and password and we will reinstate your account:

WILL THIS HAPPEN AGAIN?
We are taking the necessary steps to have all files backed up on a separate, local server, as well as a remote server to prevent this situation from happening again. Hardware does fail on servers and there's nothing that can be done to prevent this type of failure. What we are doing is preventing data loss from happening in this magnitude.

Despite our best efforts to keep backup copies of user-posted media, we still highly recommend you save copies of your files on your own computer. Due to the volume of data, we cannot keep real-time backups. Should a crash of this nature happen again in the future, we will have a more recent backup (days vs. months) to restore from.

If you have any questions or concerns, I encourage you to post them here. I will be happy to answer them.

Thanks,

-Eric

Nice to see the site back up again.

Quick question though... to those of us who lost a decent amount of media between 5/14 and now, will you be instituting complimentary batch uploading for all users? I remember the last time that this happened (although that time it was on a much larger scale) you offered that to the users.

It was easy for us (last time) to implement the batch upload for the affected accounts.

This time around, since we actually lost data, there's no way to do a comparison to see who was affected by the crash.

That said, we will gladly setup batch uploading for a period of 5 days for those who request it.

Your account has been upgraded. You may receive a subscription expiration notice when the server automatically changes your account back to a regular user.

Hi, glad to see Supermotors back up. Anyways, I was trying to upload my stuff and was trying to create the folders for the pictures but it kept giving me an "Invalid" error and doesn't create the folder. Any ideas? Oh and can I have the batch upload please.

Just tested the folder adding and it works on our end. Can you tell me which web browser you use and what platform (Windows, Mac) you're on?

Also, you have access to batch posting for 5 days!

Thanks,

-Eric

Hmm, it seems to be working now, but I tried it a few times earlier and it was giving me an error. I'm using Firefox 1.5 on Windows Xp. Anyways, thanks for the batch upload.

I like the new format. It's easier to navigate.

I'd also like to request the batch upload if I could, please. Thanks very much.

I need some help here. I just bought a nissan skyline GTS-T. It sucks cause I only had this car for about two weeks and it' s already giving me problems. Different people are saying different things. the problem with my car is that the car shakes like crazy when it's on neutral and the rpm goes up and down by itself . Some people say it's the valve , some say the body of the engine, some say piston, and even the motor mount. Do anyone have an idea which one of these parts is the cause for the shaking of the engine and the rpm? I would highly appreciate your help.
