I am considering purchase of the AirAid Intake in conjunction with the Power Aid throttle body spacer. Those that have this combo, what is your experience? I have heard that once installed their is a distinctive whistle...any comments?
Are there any other intake/spacer manufacturers that I should consider or that you all have had positive experience with?
Also, as a new member of the Excursion ownership ranks with a V10 4x2, I have read about the antisway bars but am confused as to whether these are recommended in front, rear or both primarily and do/will they make a difference with a 4x2 X?
Look forward to your thoughts...JB |

Joe, when we bought ours used, it already had the AIRAID throttle body spacer on it. So I do not know what the truck drove like before. But I CAN tell you there is DEFINITELY a whistle. At first I was a little concerned, but when I realized it was just the spacer, you don't really even notice it. With the radio on you don't here it. But off and especially if you listen for little noises (LIKE ME) you will hear it and it will bug you. Your X should have a sway bar up front. The one that most of the discussion is about is putting one on the rear. It is supposed to help control body roll and stabalize the rig. Some even liken the result to a sports car . The most common one used is the Hellwig brand, which you can find at JCWhitney.
Good luck with your ride. |

Mike,
Thanks for the great reply. Regarding the antisway bar...you recommend the front. Is this for better cornering? Do any of our forum readers have both and what are the actual differences in ride one might expect?
Best,

Joe, if this was to me...what I meant by "you should have a front..." is that there should already be one there, stock. And yes most people have added the rear to improve handling. Hellwig (I believe) does make a better front bar than stock, and some have changed it as well as adding the rear. When $$$ finally becomes available, this is one of the things I will be doing.

JOE,
I just installed the Hellwig swaybar on the rear of my X along with the Rancho 9000 shocks. It made a HUGE difference for the better. Sam's Off Road in Oklahoma has both and the shipping on the shocks is free. www.samsoffroad.com

On the front swaybar, just get rid of the stock rubber bushings and switch to Poly from Energy Suspensions. Cost about $19.95 and will tighten up the front end

Update;
I've ordered the hellwigs for the rear from Sams Offroad (along with Rancho 9000's). I have tried to get the poly bushings for the front stock swaybar as Mongo suggested but neither Energy Suspension nor DayStar have the poly for the 2 wheel drive Excursion (It is different than the 4x4...dammit ). So...I will need to either throw more $ at some front Hellwigs or just wait to see how the ride is with the rear. If anyone has another suggestion, I am all ears.
Thanks for the help and suggestions to date...
