Dear WW - ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?? You must have done LOTS MORE than just a chip to get a FIFTY PERCENT gain in fuel mileage!!!
Tell me more OH MILEAGE GURU !!
1. What else did you do to the engine or exhaust/turbo??
2. How much $$ is the chip and how hard to install ??
3. Did you have a fill up fluke- how about other tankfull averages??

Seriously WW, I know everything is bigger in Texas, but this sounds incredible!!

Ciao, godfather

Question, do you calculate your miles per gallon or are you taking it off your OH console read out? I found with my past Western Diesel chip that it faked out the computer to think it was getting better gas mileage then it really was. The display would say 21mpg around town and realistically I was getting 16-17. The X is heavier then our Pickup counter parts. You would think its more aerodynamic, but thats evidently not as much a fuel saver as the overall wieght. In stock form the mileage computer does alright, but with the two chips I have had experience with,....they are far from accurate.

After using the Superchips 1705 tuner at the lowest setting, on my 03 X 2WD, She changed from
16-17 mpg highway @70 mph to 24.2mpg @70-73mph for 200 miles. Unbelievable.

Where can I get such a tuner?!? Do I have to use any mods if I do any "fine tuning" to my engine?

The OH console reading was in error..computed based on 1 tank re-fill was ONLY 22.7. I'll take that.
In town w/2 tank re-fills actually was 19.4... OH console would read 20+. But that is better than the 95 Cummins PU I did have. I have only used the SCMT 1705 on the X, very easy to use. I plan to change air filter next. Any recommendations?

I found one on E-bay. Go to www.superchips.com they have a dealer listing tab on the front page.

ww - was that hand calculated or did you use the NEW MATH Ford overhead computer?

Common knowledge that the programmers mess the overhead calc up !

Sorry to burst the bubble if that's the case !
(but the psd's do get unbelievable mileage for an 8K lb vehicle ! )

Tinkerbelle has been doing fine at about 21mpg on average on The hyway. Nothing long distance yet but I'm fairly sure it will do better on a long haul. I have discovered that my overhead is stingy compared to hand calcs.

My bronco used to do about 19 - 20 and weighed about half as much.. go figgure.
