There I was, flat out under Tinkerbelle doing an oil change and what do i find?
Blisters on the oil pan. I scraped the paint off and sure enough theres lots of rust and pitting going on.
Fortunately I caught it before any appreciable damage was done and after having cleaned all the blisters off I slathered some special anti-corosion /penetrant/grease all over the entire pan.Its the stuff farmers use on their equipment to protect from fertilizer ect. Given the incredible cost of an oil pan, not to mention the work required to change one, its a good idea to check yours before you find your oil change on the ground one day.

I recall reading some where Ford has a T-B out for this ... It may be covered under Warranty. |

This is my pet peeve with Ford. I never heard of rusting oil pans until I had my 87 Crown Vic. Since then EVERY Ford that I have owned (nothing but Fords ) has had this problem. Ford could easily have solved this problem years ago if they wanted to. But they design for the warrenty life and after that they can just gouge the customer.
