just wanted to say hi. I am new here. I have an 02 excursion w/ k/n replacement filter and a hypertech power programmer. what kind of boost levels and what should the egt's be? thanks.

In comparison ... I have the Super Chips, very similar advertised gains, On the High end of things you should see as little as 22 to as much as 26lbs of boost, EGT's for me with a Stock intake and Exhuast would easily exceed 1200, the K&N did nothing for me but eat up my turbo... I have since gone to a large Tymar type intake, this greatly redued the EGT's...EXhaust is next.... For some reason on the lower setting of my supper chips I get no boost until I have at least 1800 Rpm's then it quickly comes into play. FWIW 200 Super Dty, 350 4X Dually 373's Stock tires

I'll have to add that I've been told a K&N is not a good air-filter to add to a turbo-charged vehicle. Although it's higher-flow, it lets too much particulate matter through.

i have never heard that before, is this true?

K&Ns eat turbos?

I've not only heard Gearman say it, I've heard it from others who make their livings working on PSD, Duramax and Cummins.

manufacturers(automotive) deny warranty on a regular basis if you have a KN. on my 99 mustang cobra the complaint was too much oil on the MAF sensor (from KN) could throw computer readings off and dump too much fuel at 7000 rpm and blow motor. i personaly have dynoed cars with KN and never saw an advantage. this is testing backup runs with nothing but a filter change. i dont believe a lot of the stuff i read about them (KN), but i never saw an advatage. i have seen an advantage when you put a big cold air system on with KN, but i believe it was the big inlet and not the element. IMHO

The people I've heard it from are owners that had their turbo repairs denied by Ford BECAUSE of the K&N....

My dealer told me NO air filter changes...

And I'm waiting a bit until I do change mine...
