I did mine in my X on saturday night, Easy as pie, except for cost of this sucker. Doesnt seem like it deserves to be a 40.00 part from ford. I have seen complaints on here about how difficult it is, draining, etc. I just grabbed the old one out with some needlenose carefully and replaced without spilling but maybe a drop. I dont see what all the fuss about doing this was, it was too easy.

Check the internet! I found a replacement filter of the exact same manufacture but not in a motorcraft box, and it was about $20 shipped direct to my door in about 2 days. I found a link to a site that has them listed, but I may have gotten it from another source- can't remember for sure. http://www.shopdiesel.com/index.cfm/action/shop_by_subcat/category_id/5.htm I know it was very easy to change and was worth the piece of mind. Good luck. Also you might want to put a bit of diesel fuel additive in the tank every month or so. Stanadyne makes a good brand and I have had success with the Amsoil additive as well. |

Jared- I would recommend (Ford does too) you drain or siphon the fuel out of the fuel filter cavity just in case any water or other funk is in the bow. I found some aluminum shavings in the bottom of the bowl and was glad to remove them. Does tour truck have the drain hose from the filter bowl?
