Now, what I want to know is, should I put them on my '06 F250 4x4?

Cut7 -- I don't want to promote such a venture, but what's to stop you from trying them on there? With the F250, there shouldn't be any OEM traction bars in the way. You have the GEN-I kit, so there's no bump-stop trimming involved either. However, when you go to put them back on your X, I highly recommend getting new self-locking nuts for the square U-bolts and axle-clamps.

Thank you for the very kind words, and for the long-term review.

Ken... I'll jump on the accolade bandwagon again as well. After installing the GenII rods and the Helwig rear bar last fall, I finally made my one and only trip I've been able to make this summer, pulling the 34' Airstream a couple of weeks ago. It was a trip over one of the worst highways in Iowa... during heavy wind. I was used to a 45mph trip with a white knuckle ride just trying to keep the Ex and trailer between the white lines. This was the most pleasant trip I've had pulling the 34' Behemoth! WHAT a difference! I drove at 55 to 60 (on a 55mph highway). No wander at all. No rear-axle steering. No getting sucked over meeting trucks. Nothing but a solid, straight tow. Wow.

Thanks again!

Hey everyone - as a newbie to the board and not a person who is as intimate with the inner workings of my vehicle as most of you are, I call my truck (which my husband bought for me, sight unseen) the LandYot for a reason.....in deference and in honor to the name that was given these beast by the one person who figured out how to make them road-safe. I average 30,000 miles a year putting over 1,000 miles a week on while doing some assignments. Before my husband added these radius rods, I can say that I was somewhat paranoid about driving this vehicle the way I drove my 1999 6.5 turbo GMC (which would be anywhere, anytime). Within a mile after I had driven my X, I said there were two things that had to change - the seasaw problem and the chattering around curves and the radius rods were the answer. Too me, these problems are a major safety issue and as a female, I hate seeing another gal driving an X knowing the issues that exists. I will say that with the addition of the radius rods and the removal of the tires that came on the vehicle which were replaced with a wider Nitto tire filled with nitrogen, I am a happier and more confident person behind the wheel who can relax and enjoy the ride that the X now offers. This is an expense that I support even if it has to come out of the food budget.

Thank you LandYot for the great product!

Wow! Another woman all but admitting that women are worse drivers. You and my wife should hang out. She'd learn a lot.

I think I've said it before, but my wife also commented on how easier it is to drive the X with the radius rods. I normally can only be sleeping when my wife drives the X, otherwise I'm white-knuckling the passenger-side door handle out of fear that we're going to clip another vehicle in a neighboring lane. I feel much more confident letting the wife drive the X with the radius rods, without them, the stress level is simply not worth it for me!!

Hey Eric

Thanks for your welcome! I am looking forward to learning more about my X and I think this will be a good source.

I read your post response to my hubby while my daughter, a volunteer firefighter for Chan and a 911 dispatcher for Edina was around, and my daughter said that she calls you on your feeling about women drivers and says she has a challenge for you - get your X$$ out to Chan to drag-race her with you in your X and her in one of the firetrucks (she said this with a smile on her face knowing full well you would beat her). She is kinda funny - she is one of the few female firefighters that drives the big trucks!! I AM PROUD! We would not let her learn to drive from the instructors at the schools in those front-wheel drive skateboards, she learned in our Suburbans. She is a formidable driver in her 4-wheel drive, full-sized Dodge diesel pickup.

In all seriousness, the radius rods do make the X more roadsafe. I can honestly say that I have seen too many people driving these beasts that really need to know about this modification. The fact that we are driving down the road in a vehicle that is around a 7,000 pound lethal weapon and most of them do not have the radius rods scares the (bleep) out of me! I don't understand why this is not a standard part of the vehicle.

Again, thanks for the welcome!

Thank you for the very kind words.

Well folks, it's time for me to take another break from building these things, especially with the Christmas season and other holidays fast approaching. I will not accept snail-mailed deposits/orders postmarked after 10/22/05, and will not accept e-mailed orders with PayPal deposits dated after 10/25/05.

I do expect to take a couple extra ( GEN-I & GEN-II ) radius-rod kits with me to the "Excursion Diversion" gathering at 2PM on 11/05/05 at Manhattan's Deli & Pub in Newport News, VA. They may be available afterwards ... then again, maybe not.

The GEN-II sample kit is available if anyone's interested. It's also listed in the classifieds section of this forum. The GEN-I kit has already been spoken for. // Thanks!

UPDATED 11/10/05 - That GEN-II kit is now spoken for. Thanks!

I am the owner of one of the last 2005 Excursions. I bought it late in July, and already have over 5000 miles on it. But I tow a 32 Ft travel trailer, and have 4 kids with gear, and I would like to be placed on your list for the next batch of rods you will be making. I already have the dual-cam tow/sway system, that worked great with my old 1994 Suburban, but you all are right that it can be a white-knucke experience alot of the time towing with the Ex. I will be replacing my springs with F250 springs and blocks, is there any other info you will need to support my minor modifications? Thanks in advance, Garry K in Port Orchard, WA

Garry -- You have mail. I apologize that the radius-rods are not available at this time. You may want to check out the following link, and possibly save it to your "Favorites" folder of website links so you can check availability from time to time.

Happy Thanksgiving Ken,

I just wanted to publicly thank Landyot for his GREAT product. I recently installed the Gen-I set on my '05 6.0 EX am very happy with the more composed ride and I look forward to the next time I tow my 10K # trailer. FYI, I followed Mongo's lead and did not remove the rear wheels or jack-up the truck. I just cut-off the traction bars and installed the Rods.

Ken was a pleasure to work with and a real class act!

Cheers,

Scott
