Glenn Z -- No problem, and I'm looking forward to your post-installation report. BTW, why wait until the shock absorbers arrive? This would be an opportune time to see how much improvement is gained from the radius-rods alone. That way, you'll know how much improvement came from the radius-rods, and how much came from the shocks later. I replaced my shocks a year ago, but I doubt I would've bothered IF I had designed & installed the radius-rods first. They smoothed out the ride that much.

To everyone else -- If you're wondering about Glenn Z (and others) receiving radius-rods AFTER I said I was going to take a break, these guys are receiving the last batch I was building at the time of my announcement. I shipped the last batch of kits this past Tuesday, 04/13/04.

And to those who've been asking a question I've been hearing a lot lately -- "How do I tell if my 2000 Excursion is an 'early' or 'late' 2000 model?" Well, it's very simple. The early-2000 models had their rear brake calipers mounted on opposite (front & rear) sides of the rear axle. The passenger-side caliper is mounted on the aft side of the axle, and the driver-side is mounted on the forward side of the rear axle. Sometime "later" in the 2000 model year, FMC switched the layout and both calipers are mounted on the aft side of the rear axle. I hope that answers the question for many of you. And FYI, I believe this was also spelled out a few pages back in this post.

I'm glad so many of you have voiced your appreciation for what the radius-rods do for your Excursions. It makes me feel that I've helped some people appreciate their Excursions all that much more. I know I fell in love (figuratively speaking) with my truck all over again.

LAND YOT -- Ken E.

landyot

i would experiment with the raduius rods, but i am sneaking this in on my wife, yes we know who wear the pants in this family, she knows of the sway bar, shocks and radius rods, but has no idea of the lift i am putting on the X, if she knew she would blow a gasket, so i am planning to do the whole thing in a weekend, once the conversion is done, she will only BIT*H for a short time

thanks again

Hey y'all! If you trying sending me an e-mail during the next few days, I won't be able to reply for a few more. As soon as I post this message, I have to tear down all my PC equipment here, move it to my fiance's house ... which doesn't yet have cable-internet service. C'ya later! - Ken

Yet another happy customer with new radious rods. Actually when we first put them they turned what was a slight driveshaft vibration into much more. I had suspected drive shaft issues since I lifted it but once the radious rods were in place the slight vibration turned into a pretty intolerable vibrations/shake. So I made a trip to Dick' Driveline and they built me a new one with about an extra inch or so. Once I hit the freeway I was immediatly stoked. So if you think you have driveshaft issues and you install the RR's you will know for sure. I wanted to drive it for a few days to give an honest review and I have to say that they make a huge difference. Sharp turns on rough roads are much more pleasant then before. The center steering wander has improved greatly but not entirely, though I think a 95% improvement is worth mentioning. What can one expect running a 4 1/2" lift with 35's anyways? And the violent shaking on washboards is no more. So thumbs up on Landyot's Radious Rods. The X is much much safer now.

Heya Ken,

How long of a break are you planning on taking? I am concentrating on getting my X up to snuff. It's starting to show its age at 150K and in need of some add-a-leafs up front, powersteering box rebuild, going to put about 2degrees caster in the front and will probably replace the rear 2" blocks with 4" F350 blocks to even out the ride. This will ultimately mean I need some Radius Rods or ladder bars to keep her stable while towing. You plan on doing another production run anytime soon? I have a later model 2000 4x4 PSD X in need of some love.

Thanks

Bobby - "You have mail." BTW, why are you going to change the caster? If it's to obtain some on-center steering control and reduce/eliminate the wandering ailment, you may want to hold off on that until you either get a set of my radius-rods or a set of ladder bars. Afterwards, if you still think you need any wandering improvement, then change the caster. I should be making another batch in late-summer. Note that those folks who send a deposit to get on the long-term waiting list will get their kits from the very next batch I build ... and I just sit on the deposit until I ship (do not cash them until I ship the kits). // Ken
