I just ordered the X this weekend. 39,100 for the whole deal. I did better than A and X Plan just by haggling with 5 or 6 dealers. Bowie Clift of Shelor Ford in VA, is by far the last guy you want to get in on the deal. the guy was awesome to deal with. He took the lowest price i found and knocked off $900.

Question: Is installing a remote starter something that I could tackle myself? I'm pretty handy but have reservations about working on a brand new truck. If so what brand do ya'll recommend?

Question: What are the top 1 or 2 aftermarket mods for the X? sway bars, radius rods, tires, TTM, air filter, etc.?

Radius Rods, if you can get them. They are on back order, from what I understand.

FWIW, I have the Factory alarm and remote start. No complaints.

CONGRATS !

re remote starts...
on the other forum...
someone was just looking for help because they had an aftermarket and the dealer was blaming the problem he had on the aftermarket...
Not to say this happens a lot, but it happened to me once, which was one time too many...
Had my dealer bid on the remote and he dropped the price considerably AND
I got it thrown into the financing AND
it's now part of my extended warranty
BUT most importantly there is no finger pointing that this caused that !!!!!

Rear sway bar and Diablo predator have made mine FUN !

Orf,

Is the factory alarm and remote start something only available through Ford or could I purchase it and install myself? Brand name?

Not sure about the DIY part. The price included install, and it took them about an hour to do it. If I recall correctly, the price was around $350.

ORF,

My salesman at the dealership is having the parts dep. put the remote start on for $219. it's the basic model with no alarm, etc. but fits us.

Does your's have a TTM with the system?

Dunno. What's a TTM?

That price was for both alarm and remote start. $219 sound about right for remote start alone. I think alarm alone was around the same. I figured it was a good deal for both.

Turbo Temp Minder

apparently the turbo needs to cool down a certain amount before stopping or it gets damaged. there are not a lot listed on folks X's in their bios so i'm guessing it's a marginal modification.

Well, I haven't timed it, but the remote start runs for about 5 minutes. You can activate the remote start before you remove the key, so I guess that could act as a TTM. It will allow the engine to idle for that long before shutting down.

I wonder if I should start to make a habit of doing that. Any opinions?

Vince- is 39,100 for a new 04? is that 4x4 limited? If so that is an outrageous price- most here are going for high 40's to low 50's.
