| Quote: | Yes, the turbo back was hard to do...
course I wasn't the one doing !
Had a local shop here do it for me... they've done a lot of my work since I found them...
good guys, inexpensive, and knwoledgeable for the most part...
after I saw the battle they had getting the downpipe out... glad I didn't try it...
But, of course, they are the type that try to save everything they can and finally cut the downpipe shorter so it would come out...
and having had the predator 100HP program in it for over a week, I knew how it performed and reacted... noticed MUCH better response down low after the turbo bck was installed...
even WITH the cat still in there...
Really like the difference...
set the truck back to stock today after the drag strip playing and still think it performs well without the programmer and with the turbo back.... | Johnboy,
I have my turbo back sitting in the garage. I'm not going to mess with it either!! Can you tell me who did yours and what they charged? I've been surprised at what I've been quoted so far. 1 quote in Dallas and 1 in Plano. We're heading to Colorado next week so I'd like to get it done before then, of course I should just wait and do it after we get back, but I want to hear and feel it. : ON EDIT : Whoo Hooo, we're back online!

Sorry, just got back into town...
I go to Flower Mound regularry - have a client there I wrote some software for...
and almost bought a house up there in Highland Village is it ???? the little town that's fighting the highway expansion ???
*********************
Got it done by a little family run Mansfield Gas and Exhaust shop...
pulled the old one out and put the cat back in for $150....AND added a chrome tip since I didn't have one...
Choctaw Bob is in Garland and he's supposed to come by to get his done too...
I'll offer you the same thing I did Bob... will run over there and pick you up so u don't have to sit at the shop...
If I had to guess, it took them about 3 hours ???
but I was running errands and really didn't pay attention...
Good people and good price and GREAT results - especially with the predator @ +100HP

Thanks Johnboy. I may just let Diesel Injection do it then. Pricing is close, and I may need them to help me out with installing the pyro in the up-pipe since on the 6.0 it's supposed to be a PITA! Plus they have other goodies.....
Yep, Highland Village is it. Flower Mound doesn't have any sayk, and it'll screw the town up more than anything. Traffic is bad now, I can't imagine why anyone would want to use 2499 to move that much more traffic!! Although, a lot of traffic already uses back roads out in the country through Copper Canyon as it is.
Well, we're taking our first road trip tomorrow, heading to Crested Butte. Loaded the Ex up tonight and can't beleive how much stuff is in there, and how much room is still there too!! We could do it with the Expy, but would have to take out the 3rd seat. Not the Ex. I'm pumped! Long drive, but should be enjoyable.

We made it back! Awesome trip!!!!
Now the bad news, DI can't do my exhaust. They dont' have a mig to weld the cat back in right. First guy I talked to I guess didn't catch that. So I'm back to looking for someone to install. I'm tempted to install myself then just let a shop weld the cat back in. I'm not sure I could go that long with the turbo whistle from the cat being out though. The wife might very quicky give me the old

Jim...
Oh Man... doesn't that burn you up !?!?!
How'd the Ex do ? let me guess - FINE ! It is BUILT for trips like that !
I'm telling u the downpipe will be a bear to get out based on what I saw......
U might just have DI install it and then go to a muffler shop to have the cat put back in....
I woudl guess $100 is fair for the install... I paid about $150 but that was with a $49 chrome tip ???
and you're right... mine whistles a lot WITH the cat...
but I've gotten to like it...

What's the r33 transmission shift flash? | Very....
yes...
the r33 tranny update is what put the predator PAST all the other modules...
it shifts like a dream at ANY power settng and any acceleration - including full out 1/4 mile runs...
Actually it "clips" the shifts and can chirp the tires in second if I do it right in my Ex...

| You bet. It wqas great. I loved the grades. Stick it on cruise and walk right by all the gassers that blew by me on the flats.
| Quote: | I'm telling u the downpipe will be a bear to get out based on what I saw......
| Mine doesn't look that bad. No insulation at all. I can see where cutting it would make it easier but again, I think having someone else do it since the cat has to go back in would be worth it. Mine has a tip with it, so that price doesn't sound to bad!
| Quote: | U might just have DI install it and then go to a muffler shop to have the cat put back in....
I woudl guess $100 is fair for the install... | Problem is, they want $180 to do the install, then I'd need to have someone weld the cat back in. For a shop that does it regularly, that's more than it should be I think.
Unfortunatly I have time on my hands right now so if I can't get another shop closer to me that was recommended to do it, I may head towards Mansfield!

Got the exhaust installed today! Much better price and all done in less that 2 hours. Pronto Muffler in Plano on 75 at 18th. Great guys!! I actually could have bought the system from them and had it installed within about $20-$30 of what I payed to hassle with shipping and lugging it around.
They also sell other aftermarket stuff. I highly recommend them! I spoke to Mark who I believe is the manager. Another guy I talked to (took my money ) seemed to know deisel aftermarket stuff pretty well!
Major mod #1 complete! Gauge pod is painted so now I just need to install the gauges!
