Doesn't the X run an independent front suspension?

Nope. Crawl under the front end. Live axle, coil springs in the front, leafs on the rear.

Except on the 4X4's you get leaf springs front and rear. The 2X4's have coil springs and the twin I-beam front axle.

And one more correction...(I think)

Super Dutys & Excursion do not use a twin I beam.

COntrol arms and coils up front on 2WD. Solid axle out back.

2 solid axles on 4WD. With leaves all around.

Your comparing the Deisel X to the gas Suburban, you really are talking apples and oranges. I really don't like the definitive "better tow vehicle" when talking about something that is as much a sense of feel as it is engineering! I have towed with both and feel they both are sweet and and which is "better" IS a matter of opinion!
