[quote]Gen-X...

is that north of the border miles per gallon or US gallons ????

On my trip to Memphis tfrom DFW Wed... at 80 mph avg or so....

the overhead lie-o-meter said about 19.7 mpg.....

and i DO idle a LOT with the remote start and the need to keep my body cool - it idles a lot

will drive MUCH slower ont he way back saturday and see how it does....[/quote

Hey JohnBoy,
I can only assume that it is US gal. the truck being built in the US and all....

The truck idling really drops the avg.....reset and driving back to Memphis. I'll bet you a beer the numbers will be better.........provided you keep it around 60-65MPH.

Cheers

Ok....
I take back all I've said about my mileage never topping 18 or 19....

ON the trip back from Memphis today set the speed @ about 70 and kept it there for about 305 miles....

overhead said 21.5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

filled up with 14.8 gal !!!!!!!!!!!! 20.6 calculated !!!!!

Gosh - I guess I should try being more patient in the future and drive slower !!!!

Over the past few weeks I've read a few threads that dicussed the PSD mileage and how low it was, on the weekend I decided I would test this theory. For the trip to the cottage, I drove very easy, never took the tacho over 1750RPM and that limited my speed to 55 to 60MPH. Once the X hit N.O.T(normal operating temp) I reset the Ford mileage counter and began my testing. After 2.5 hrs the counter read this:

OR for the Canadian guys

This is a fairly hilly and twisting road, not some smooth flat freeway.

On the way back I drove the X harder...passed people, didn't watch the tacho at all but kept the same speed around 55 / 60MPH. The mileage dropped to 22.0 miles/gal. I drove a total of 6 hrs on less than a 1/4 tank of diesel. This 8000lbs beast got better mileage then my 1999 Ford Explorer V6.

The truck has the latest flash RC8(no P.I.) and everything else is stock.

Cheers

Thanks Gen-X. Liked your Pics about mileage.

I'm glad your a believer . I agree, it's tough driving under 2000RPM all the time, but the X can get good mileage if you give it a fair run.
