Thanks to all who replied. I was leaning toward the Victors, but I think I will go with the Mohaves. I also think I will go with the 17" rim, and the load range D tires.
While I agree that Birdman's rims look cool, I want the teflon rims because they are not chrome (read: shiny). I like the "outlaw" look of the dark rims, and the teflon struck me as unique. Besides, everybody has shiny chrome/aluminum/alloy rims. I like to be different. |

Post pictures once you have installed the new wheels, look forward to seeing what they look like. Teflon sounds really neat especially if you don't have to polish them regularly like chrome, etc.

| Quote: | | Thanks for the picture of the Mohave, Scott.
The American Racing site also allows you to see how they look on your vehicle, via a Java Applet. They offer two colors of Excursions, one being the Mineral Grey, like mine. You can change the rim size, but not the tire size.
For the record, I decided on the Mohave rims in 17x8, with BFG All Terrain T/A KOs in 285/70R17/D. That tire is rated at 3195 lbs at 65 psi, where my existing tires are rated at 3415 lbs at 80 psi. I would imagine that both tires are nearly equally rated at 50 to 55 psi, which is what I run my tires at now. I also think I've talked myself into gettin 5 rims and tires, just so the spare matches.
Now, do I sell the stock rims, or do I fit them with tires designed for the OBX sand? |

SD/Ex rims are a dime a dozen on ebay. Put your old ones to good use.

Mojave teflon.
But don't order those from 4wheelparts.com. I ordered mine from them and when I finally got them to Europe ( 4 weeks ), I got the bright ones, not teflon. well they are exelent as well and fit my blue 2000 ltd X just fine. But I would have prefered the teflons. |

I priced them at a bunch of different sites, as well as local brick and mortars. The pricing I found was between $205 and $240 per rim. Wheelsforless has a special, this month only according to the guy on the phone, where the Mohave Teflon rims are $154 each. I called to confirm the rims have an open center, as I have the manual locking front hubs. The down side to this is that those style rims come with a hub cover that is bright stainless steel. I figure I'll have the hub covers painted to match the rims, but I want to see how they look first. |
