I hear ya.....I really like the idea of dual exhaust pipes. But it appears I need to do a lift before that will work. As stated before doing a lift then rules out the drive thur drive wash....you just can't have it all

The dual pipes are nice on the F250 but they exit out the rear which really stinks literally while hooking up trailers or taking things out of the box while running. Not only does the stink get in your cloths but the fumes burn my eyes. It's really bad on start up during the winter. If the pipes ever rust which is highly unlikely on a diesel the pipes will be replaced out the sides at an angle.

Since the Limited X is so much more quiet than the XLT F250 I don't think I'll ever change the exhaust. But who knows, my wife stuck dual exhaust on her 95 5.8 Bronco right before she parked it when we got the X, so she may want them some day.

There are more people who put an upgrade single exhaust on there PSD's then dual exhaust.

Why do you think you need a lift for the X to fit dual exhaust? Does it have to do with the large rear fuel tank? I bought the F250 with dual exhaust and there's no lift on it.

Lifting the X would be sweet with the AR Atlas wheels with 33inch BFG's but then not only would it have to be washed by hand every time it would no longer fit into it's garage spot. If the X was lifted my wife would be fighting over me for the large garage door!

The dual exhaust is only for looks. Your right most go for the big single pipe, I thought the dual pipes from the muffer back would be a nice change. I was told by a muffer shop here that the gas tank and rear axle would be a problem. I didn't push it any further.

Good point regarding trailer hook up! Maybe an exhaust tip turned to angle the flow to the side might help?

Ya, I agree the a lift fits any X very well......

Douglas thanks for suggestions and comments.....

Cheers

I think the dual exhaust system on my truck is better than the stock system. It's got a stock down pipe until it goes to the feet area of the passanger side then it goes to 4 inch pipe all the to were it tees then each pipe is 3 inch. There is no mufler or reginator or any restriction what so ever so it has to perform better than stock. One of these days I'm going to buy a 4 inch down pipe ($115 shipped lifetime warranty) and bring it to an exhaust shop to fit it in. Then the truck will have true 4 inch all the way through.

I picked up my 6.0 Powerstroke badges on Ebay back in 03 right when the new 6.0's hit the market. They were $24 shipped brand new in the Ford package. There hard to find and you may have to do an email notification search through Ebay to find a set. Mine were buy it now and he was selling several. The 7.3 door badges may be easier to find. I've seen a few guys who put the Powerstroke badge up on the sides of the hood. I've only seen one other X with the PSD badges and he also had pillar pods so he must have been running a chip.

On a ford diesel site they are selling aftermarket exhaust tips that slide over the factory tip for $40 shipped which may be nice for the Excursion which will keep the stock exhaust system.

The factory ones come with 3M tape on the back, it's just line up and press on. Mine were put on this time last year when it was a little chilly, used a hair dryer on the area on the door prior to install to warm it up. One year later there still on the truck!

Keep your eyes peeled for a buy it now on Ebay.
