i too burn oil. about a litre in about 1500 kms. so about a 1/4 of a gallon in say 1000 miles. i didnt notice it burning oil when i first bought it used and have since changed to mobil 1 full syn and now it seems to be burning it. i have owned other countless vehicles and none burned. in my opinion, when the dealer says its normal, that is full crap. maybe under extreme driving conditions but not under my kinda conditions. anyway sorry guys for venting but it just frustrates me when things like this happen.
my father owned a 92 chevy that burned but the dealer told him it was under the limit for what they had set. whell, not 3 months off warranty it started burning more oil and guess what? nope off warranty now, nothing we can do about it. needless to say there has never been another chevy in our family because of it.
so beware those of you who the dealer says there is not a problem!!

I have 92K + miles on our 2001V-10 EX. I have used Motorcraft 5W20 syn blend since day one. The last oil change could not find 5W20 so used 5W30 Motorcraft. I changed the oil & filter every 4-5K miles. NEVER have had to add any oil (never got down to the "ADD" mark on the dipstick). The ole EX still running great. |

My current 05 is too new with only 1800 miles on it to record oil consumption. I changed the oil at 1000 and so far haven't had to add any. (which would have been okay considering it is still breaking in)

My 2000 Exc V10 with 66xxx miles consumes very little oil. I actually say that it burns no oil, however, I realize that is is normal for engines to consume some oil. |
