In Minnesota we don't need no stinkin' thermometers. We can tell how cold it is by the sound the snow makes when we walk on it (no joke)!

That is so true....right now our 14inches of snow sounds like your walking on tin foil with egg shells under it.

I drove in to work the next day -31 on ext temp. ....X started and the radio news stated exposed skin would freeze in 30 sec (that's including eye balls) with the wind chill of -45C....thank you Ford for my heated seat..

Guys,
Sorry I was slow to respond, it's Q -end and I've got my a$$ in a sling again or maybe it's the temps slow my web access down.

CHEERS!

For those temps I'd run both the block heater and the oil preheater for sure!

Stay warm up there Clay!

Thanks I will..... funny I have a oil pan heater but it's a pain to get it in place. Even after putting it on a yard stick it's still a crawl under job.

But your right the the X is happier if the oil is not a solid.

Cheers

All I can say is GULP 1111111111111111

That is colder than I want to even HEAR about !!!

Sounds like you need to come visit us for a respite....

I just went to the mailbox in t-shirt and shorts again...

but can tell we got "nor-easter" coming in...
BIG limbs down out of the trees and stuff blowing EVERYWHERE !!!

It might even get into the teens here in DFW this week and maybe, just MAYBE...
dare I say a white Christmas ?!?!?!?!?!

Merry, Merry to all - and to all a good day !

JohnBoy,
I like hearing about warmer places, maybe some day I will drive the X south for a winter break. This year we're fly to Florda and doing a 7 day cruise instead. This will happen later when the winter deep freeze starts.

Cheers to all I enjoy reading your responses......

I'm using KAT'S Model K1155 HANDI-HEAT. it puts out 400F or 205C. It's not too bad to install, the yard stick is small enough so the magnet still sticks to the oil pan without falling off. Here a pic of it installed.

I pick this up at the local auto parts store. Here it's called Canadian Tire.

Well that's pretty cool and hot for such a small element but it seems to do the job well

I've got a Wolverine 500 watter mounted to the side of the oil pan and I likey it

Is that a fulltime install? Sounds like it?! If so, very nice idea I'll have to do some research to locate one up here.

Cheers
