Agreed, the diesel prices will not be high for too long. The cost to the truck drivers and export will be too much. The price will drop or level out with gas prices, in my humble POV. Besides, the Excursion V10 is like a biker.....and the diesel Excursion is like a biker with tattoos. |

One of the reasons we bought our 2000 Excursion was the price of diesel was 20-30 cents cheaper than regular unleaded back in 2002(not to mention the mpg was higher with a 7.3 vs. v-10) Since then, we have seen it climb as high as 2.15/gal
here in Memphis, Tn. As of late, it has leveled off to about the same price as premium. All that said,I still wouldn't give up my 7.3 for a v-10 Hopefully, the price will continue to drop.

I'm still sold on the diesel. But seeing the latest fuel prices made that piece of the puzzle less attractive.
On a slightly different note I'm still weary about the 6.0. I know, I know the stuff you read on the net must be taken with a grain of salt. But my own personal experience with the people I ask in person (parking lots etc.) has not been very good. A rough estimate is at least 60 to 70% of the people I talk to have had some issues. The more common are, blown turbo, hesitation under acceleration and poor driveability, injector failures.
I still plan on buying a diesel X in the spring but only feeling 98% due to the 6.0 "issues".
* Not looking to start a long thread about why the 6.0 is good or not. Just expressing a lagging concern.

TIA | I've have my fair share of 6.0L problems and I've had none of the problem you wrote about. Injector are good, no turbo problems and if I do a brake stand I can lay 15ft of rubber. The 2005 6.0L is a nice engine. I'm running a 2003 april build and is running great! |

TIA | Lance.... "Perception IS reality" to many....
but I have 44K+ miles and admit I abuse my "bad build" 03 6-oh....
but it still runs like a champ...
and lag is a characteristic of MOST turbo diesels....
you want lag ???? take off the turbo.... Remember, it's moving an 8K+ lb vehicle... and there is this thing called inertia Still - there are not many full blown dragsters that can do consistent sub 2 second 60 foot times ON STREET TIRES (or more specifically trail tires like mine) AND still get 15 mpg around town lke my 6-oh X can....
granted 44k+ miles is not a LOT, but it's an indicator of things to come, I hope...
This engine/tranny combo puts the 02 7.3 4 speed auto X I had to shame....
(and it was a good truck !)
