My '00 3.73 4x4 is off by exactly 5mph....I have verified by GPS that if I'm going 65mph true speed, my speedo reads 70, etc.... I have factory tires (265x65x16).

It's interesting to read the various speedo/tach observations, so I'll share mine. My setup is a 2000 X-Limited, 4x4, V10, 4.30 limited slip gears (according to the local Ford dealership's interpretation of my axle tag), and 265/75/16 tires. My own speedo/tach observations are as follows:
1500RPM = 45MPH
2000RPM = 60MPH
2500RPM = 75MPH
I've checked this several times and those figures are accurate for my X and are not rounded up or down to the nearest, they are right on the numbers.
My mileage (as per the overhead display) generally averages 10MPG stop & go city, 11-12MPG general local driving for my work, and 14 (sometimes a little better) highway cruising at 70MPH. The lowest average I've seen on the display is 9.5MPG ( a lot of cold stop & go) and the highest average on the freeway was 17.5 (that wasn't downhill with a tail wind either). Yes, I do know how to calculate mileage the old fashioned way, but I've only had the X for a little less than ten days. I haven't had it on a road trip yet for a good shake down to calculate what it actually gets for road mileage. |

Long. I don't have a digital camera (yet), so I'll have to take some regular 35mm photos, have them developed and go from there. I do get to your area, on occason, as we have friends and relatives all around the Twin Cities. It's kind of like a second home town to me. |
