Hey everybody, I'm looking at buying a used ford excursion and I have two of them I'm interested in. One is a 2002 with the 7.3 (36,000 miles) and the other is a 2003 6.0 (42,000 miles). I really like the black color of the 6.0, but I am worried about issues with the early 6.0. I have read many posts that say NOT to buy a 2003 excursion. I know there are many hours of reading, but was wondering if there are any easy ways to check and see if the 6.0 has had any issues.

Sorry guys, after doing some more reading it looks like this topic is beat to death. I will continue reading and hopefully make a decision. Any other replies are welcome.

Hi Dan,you've been doing your reading on the 2003 6.0's and yes while some 2003's had probs others did not,it's almost a roll of the dice with that year equipped with the 6.0.
Now the 7.3L's are tested,tried and true all the way and there's no way my wife will sell her 2002 for a new Excursion

I had an 02 7.3 X that gave me issues and Ford bought it back and replaced it with the early run 03 6.0 that has been a CHAMP !!
