Not sure what the importance of this "Dealer Prep" fee is (I called it a junk fee because that is what a consumer watch-dog here in Atlanta calls all of the misc. fees that airlines charge when you buy a ticket) I called them back the next day and spoke with the sales manager directly, I don't think I was getting anywhere with the lady I was working with. I told him why I walked out on the deal the day before and that when I make a deal and we both agree to it I don't expect extra fees at the end. He agreed. I told him to stick with the original deal and get it detailed and I will be down to pick it up on Monday. He said that would be fine. Funny thing is though, he told me he would have to back down our original agreed upon price by $191 so they could show this line item on the contract and said something about the government wants to see it there? So anyway, it is a done deal as of Monday unless they screw something up on the numbers. I will keep you posted!

Greg,at least you're keeping the communications line established,I'd hate to see you go through all that work and time to lose it all.

I'll be keeping tabs on what becomes of Monday hopefully it'll bear positive results

Greg,

For whatever this is worth, I can chime in on the cam position sensor replacement as it relates to the 7.3 PSD...I had my replaced (covered under warranty at 65,000 miles) a few months ago because my Ex was skipping at highway speed then it died completely one day and would barely run.

Towed it to dealer, it pulled a code, they replaced the sensor, paid them $100 deductible... and I havn't missed a beat since! Was a very good fix. She runs like a charm!

Good luck with your deal...sounds like you are going to be able to take advantage of someone else's lack of patience regarding a few simple fixes! Sounds like a good deal!

Thx.

IT IS DONE!!! IT IS MINE!!! I AM EXAUSTED!!!
We fought about headphones that were not turned in with the car when they got it, an additional key and key fob, and cleaning of the interior when I came in for delivery. All said and done they gave me my price and the goodies the new one originally came with.
Thanks for all of your input and help along the way. I will be putting new pix of it in "My Garage" when I take some after work today.

Actually, I already know one. I need a bug deflector for the front and I noticed the one you have on yours. I love the way it looks. How do you like it? Does it rub the hood? I put one (can't remember the brand) on my Explorer and it came with little rubber bumpers that had to be stuck on the hood to keep it from rubbing. After awhile one sides bumber fell off and since then has rubbed the paint raw! Don't want that experience again! Which one do you have?

Hi Greg the hood protector I have is from Ventshade and the model is Bugflector II. It mounts up under the hood at four locations and one small clear bumper at the end of each ear which have not fallen off and appear to be very secure. It's been installed on our Excursion since June 2002..

The Bugflector 100% does not rub against the hood/paint,we had the same exact model on our 99.5 F250 7.3L for 3 years with no issues whatsoever.

Lemme see if I can dig up some better pics and I'll add them to my album

Bill,
Thanks for the info! That is good news especially since I can pick that deflector up locally here in Atlanta at Pep Boys for $50. I saw one yesterday while I was there. They are actually made in Lawrencville, GA in the Metro Atlanta area. I think I will have to pick one up at lunch today
