Hey Bill,
I bought the BugDeflector II yesterday and installed it lastnight. Fits great except it is tight on the top of the center front grill cowling. It is so tight I can't fit a piece of paper between the cowling and the bottom of the deflector. The hood latches ok but I am worried about the vibrations and rubbing over time. Does yours fit like this? If not, are there any adjustments that I can make to the latch? The instructions suggested adjusting the bumper stops, but I don't see how that will help in this situation.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg, the bottom part of the bugflector comes in light contact across the top of the grille and hasn't really presented a problem.

The clear stick on buttons I have adhered to the fender ends just under the ears..

I can take a looksee at the hood protector to take a couple pics to be sure were on the same channel

If I recall the black hood stops might have been adjusted up just alittle so the hood would close easily.

I took additional pics of the bugflector installed this evening,go to the album Body Mods to check em out

Bill, Thanks for the pix! It looks like yours is rubbing in the same exact spots that mine is. On the left and right side of the grill top! I can slide a piece of paper in and out in the center but as soon as I move it out to the left or right I can't get it in between. I don't think I am going to worry about it too much although my grill is the same color as my body color and not chrome due to it being a Limited. I may try and adjust the two bumper stop a little to see if it helps. Any advice on this? Two little rub marks that are hidden by the hood when closed is a much better than having "road rash" on the hood or bugs on the windshield.

I remove the bugflector each spring to clean, polish & wax the paint that is protected,I haven't found no contact points from the bugflector on the paint.

For those two tiny contacts on top of the grille I'd probably use some fine grain sandpaper on the bugflector poly where it touches the grille top,I may go after that either this evening or Saturday

HEY! The sandpaper thing is a great idea! That's why you get paid the big bucks!

Could also stick on a couple layers of electrical tape over those contact spots to protect against any residual vibration that may occur too

Getting paid for knowledge would be nice but I like Shadetree engineering,if the modification/s can be done at a low cost or free hey I'm there and will share that with the next owner

Just note that I work with just as many SuperDuty trucks as Excursions

Just ordered 2 2005 OEM "Power Stroke V8 Diesel" badges for each side of the X. They will go below the "Excursion" badge. Got them for $14.50 on eBay! I wan't people to know what they are next to. I may order one for the back too.

You're not wasting anytime modding your new Excursion Greg

The badges are gonna look sweet! Some owners even acetone the Excursion/SuperDuty badges

Can't have enough shine
