A bud has had the predator on his without an exhaust and only an egt gauge....
we've been to the dyno and drags together and nary a inklng of a egt problem....
99.9% of the time my predator is on the 65HP program....
the 100 is obviously more, but the 65hp is SUCH a tremendous improvement from stock AND gets better fuelage that I never keep the 100 hp mode in....
(did for a few weeks, but the mpg went in the toilet John - check out www.diablosport.com for the latest download... it's r35 I believe...
and when u first plug in the predator watch the top of the screen to see what version your's has...
bet it's not r35 and you'll need it...
OH wait... is your truck an 05 ??? then yours should be R75 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An 05 I could barely bring myself to spend the 27K on an 01. Besides for me it is a 7.3 or nothing. Thanks for the version info. I will have to check when I fire it up. If it is not the current one, how do you download the new program? I did not see any computer cable in the box with it. I cannot wait to see the power change with the new toys

Well, I have the "or nothing", so not sure how your tuner is set up....
but according to www.diablosport.com/U7170.php :
"Current revision for the Predator '99-03 7.3L Powerstroke F-Series (part no. U7170) is r19dz. It is displayed on the main menu of all newer Predators.
The User Manual is available for download."
for mine, I just went down to the local radio shack and got a null modem cable which plugs into the serial port of my laptop and the bottom of the tuner...
(you can get a tuner power pack as well if need be, but I just bring my laptop out to the truck to update)
good luck with it and have fun !!!!

Figures, I just tossed a null cable about 6 months ago. Had it for four years and never used it so I decided it was time to go.
With your previous post you got me thinking. We will be going on a trip completely across state this weekend. Since we will just be cruising at highway speed and not pulling anything, maybe I could load up the predator At least I could find out the fuel milage advantage with the tuner using the winter crap since we have almost a full tank of the stuff. The last tank came in at 15.6 mpg with combo of city and highway (and yes that was hand calc). If I get a few yay's and no nays since I will not have any gauges in, I might just give it a try.

John go ahead and load in the tow friendly program and keep it under 70 MPH I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the results just keep in mind to do your MPG calculations by hand and not off the overhead guessometer,it becomes very inaccurate once tuner programming or a chip has been loaded Bill

on my 02 7.3L X I ran it with just a superchips tuner and no other mods (befoe I was smarter )
and on the road if I drove reasonabaly would get over 20 !!! realistically and at SPEED....
now I usually found a quick vehicle and just fell in behind them for a few reasons....
one, they would be a BIT of a wind break for me and two, I foole myself into thinking THEY would be ticketed before me

Well I hooked up the predator and put in the economy tune (60hp) and wow what a difference. Hit the on ramp by me just to punch it once and it had some great get-up. Now I need to get the other toys on so I will know I am not hurting anything. I topped off the tank and will be hitting the road in three hours. Can't wait to see what it does for fuel milage.
Also took the roof rack cross bars off today. The big ones had scratches under them but I don't think they are too bad. The small bars had nice shiney clean spots under them Now I have to wax and polish the whole top of the truck to get it to match. The one bad thing about a black truck dirt and clean spots show up real well.

I filled back up when I got out there with over 200 miles and just a quarter of a tank gone which gave me 18.5mpg on winter fuel The best tank before that was 15.5mpg. Can't wait to see what happens when we get summer fuel flowing.
I also had some spare time before we left so I put the Rancho's on the front. Man what a difference. It no longer feels like I am riding on the bump stops on the front, but the rear is still harsh. I will get the Rancho's on the rear when I do the Hellwig. I looked at the shocks and they were OEM shocks which explains why they rode so horrable.

Bill,
I like the look of the overhead gauge pod. I was considering the under cubby pod but the more I look at your set up, the more I like it. Was wondering where you purchased it. Thanks in advance
