| Quote: | | I leave for Michigan from Florida in late June, I'm anxious to see the numbers I get. 2002 2WD X, 5.4L. I however have a 3" lift with 295 Nitto Terra Grapplers and a huge yakima basket on top. No exhaust or intake mods plus I'll be carrying 4 adults and 1 large alaskan malamute with all our gear. Should be an interesting trip. Any tips on how I can get a few extra mpg before I leave in June? | Here's a new mod on the market for ya that will greatly improve fuel economy:

Nice sailing shot. Shot from the bow looking aft and going what we call wing on wing. We just launched the boat the other day (Beneteau 351) and can't wait to get out on the Chesapeake. CHP- is this your boat?

I've noticed with my 35" Baja Claws that the higher you run air pressure the better mileage you get. You know, the whole roliing resistance thing. Max psi on mine are 60 and I have gained about 2 mpg around town by increasing from 50 to the current 60 psi. It makes the ride a little rougher, but at current fuel prices I don't mind the ride. Or you can do like I did on my second long trip, tail a charter bus....lol...I got 14.9 mpg outta the V-10 doing that at almost 80 mph with 4 adults and 4 kids.

I'll start with increasing the PSI, thanks! I'm heading back to GR, where I'm originally from. Wedding actually. I'm from Rockford and she's from Grandville, so we're in your neck of the woods. What about a cheap solution to the exhaust? Changing the muffler(s) to a more throaty one? I'd like to do that anyway, but if it increases mpg, I'll do about anything.
Thanks for the help, the sail should really help too. |

| Muffler alone I'd suggest the Walker Big Truck Muffler based on experience, the only thing I don't know is what diameter the gas engine exhausts are.
Muffler/system we prefer for Gas enignes would be DynoMax Super Turbo Bill
