I just changed my oil with 5W20, and spent the money on the K&N, man it runs like a brand new truck!! Gas milage is now about 2 mpg better, goin on a road trip this weekend so we will see!!

Hate to reopen the thread after a year!! I have been using Havoline 10W40. Is this taboo. I get worried w/ 5W oils in FL, especially the summer, it just seems way to thin for the heat. I have heard that MOBILE 1 will actually last around 50K, yes 50. Have also considered Amsoil, any input would be appreciated. |

Ford specifies 5W-20 just to get a smidgen more MPG out of the X ... which I don't understand since the X is excluded from many MPG standards. Excursions in other countries where 5W-20 is not available have 10W-30 as the spec oil. |

I switched about 8 months ago to Royal Purple 10-40 and seems to be doin ok!! No usage, and she does pretty good for almost 100K
