Anyone have a chip in thier 5.4 and if so is it worth 400 bucks. I am looking for better fuel economy (Arern't we all these days)and want to know if it is worthwhile.

PS-I have been looking for an older 7.3 diesel but no luck. ANyone in Maryland, Delaware or So. PA know of one with less than 60K for a reasonable price? Would possible consider an F250 Crew Cab as well (Sorry guys!) :

The MPG improvements you'll gain using a chip or programmer will be offset by the fact that you must use 91+ octane.

There are tunes that allow you to use 87 but they offer no MPG gains, minimal performance gains but do "tune" the tranny shifts.

Winter is around the corner, don't look for diesel to stay low.

Monsta-

Thanks for the info, I think you just saved me $400.00!
I did some research and arrived at the same conclusion.

My old fantasy used to be highjacking a Snap On tool truck
And of course the Rolling Rock Beer truck

Now, it's an Exxon Tanker truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On another note, how about the fancy vortex throttle body spacer. Some guy tried to sell me one a few years ago, and I opted out. Recently the bug control guy for my house was talking about his and swears it is the best thing since sliced bread. What do y'all think?
