JohnBoy, I see your point but c'mon...it's the Detriot Insider! They're as conservative as you and me!
...Ford ...confirmed that the Powerstroke engine problems were a factor in its cost performance.
Anyway...the big lure to the 6.0L FOR ME is the torqshift tranny and the lighter weight (vs. the 7.3L) but with diesel 65-70 cents more a gallon here...I still ain't enough to get me over the edge.

Get the VIN # from both & have a Ford dealer run an Oasis report, this will tell you what dealer repairs have been made. If the 03' hasn't had any substanial problems I would go with it, if it's a lemon you would know by 35,000 miles. When I bought my X last year I couldn't decide between a new 6.0 or used 7.3, once I drove the 6.0 the decision was made, plus I got 0% interest so that made it a real easy decision. I have 35,000 miles on my 04' with absolutely no problems & love the truck more everyday.

Lighter weight? Your kidding right? All I know is when someone sees this thing coming down the road they don't DARE pull out in front or cut me off. I love it! Have a 2001 7.3 PSD 4x2 and love it. Working on enhancements to the very long life this rigs gonna have. Looked at the 6.0 and a friend who works for Ford persuaded me to stay with the 7.3. |
