Atlanta, Georgia. Last fill up $2.39 two weeks ago. I heard today that they are creeping back up though and have a feeling I'll be paying more on the next fill-up

$2.39 maybe $2.41 here in NJ. Some parts of Jersey I have seen $2.35 The price changes as much as I change my undershorts! Now isn't diesel less refined than gas? Shouldn't it be cheaper? I still don't get that one!

One barrel of crude oil contains 42 gallons
About 46% of each barrel of crude oil is refined into automobile gasoline
Refined into Gasoline 19.3 gallons per barrel
Refined into Distillate Fuel Oil (Home Heating Oil and Diesel Fuel) 9.83 gallons per barrel

Diesel fuel/Home heating oil is the #2 beneficiary in the refining process so you can see how gasoline is lower in cost for twice as much gasoline product is produced per barrel and with more and more vehicles hitting the roads the cost at the pump goes up with the increased numbers.

Hmmmmmmm. Never thought of looking at it like that. But doesn't the refinery process effect the cost of fuel? I would think, but guess not because like you said you can make twice as much gasoline as you can diesel.
