Since I joined this group I have learned of many things to fix the ill handling of them. Most never applied to mine and recently I read a thread that said "get used to the clunks, they all do it. I had mine on stands running with the wife at the wheel. The clunks I read about were like mine and I found them. The spring eyes and shakle bushing were bad. When turning the springs at the front would slide side to side and hit the hangers. Energy bushings did the trick. You need to know which sway bar you have before you order everything. This can be done in your driveway with a small bottle jack between the frame and spring. Drill out the rubber and push out the bushings. This is accually two kits here. The spring kit and a swaybar kit. You could have a 30,32 or36mm bar. It's like a new truck again. |

I had the sway-bar bushings replaced with polyurethane on the front of my excursion and it didn't help at all. I think my problem is the body-mount bushings though. The squeaking drives me crazy!!!!! I haven't had the body-mount bushings replaced because I realy don't know if just replacing them will fix my problem. I would give almost anything to stop the noise in my Excursion. A mechanic friend of mine lubricated the body-mount bushings for me once and the squeaking went away for a few weeks, then it was back with a vengeance...I really think that I got a good deal on my X because of the squeaking problem.
Does anyone have a sure-fire fix for the body-mount squeaking problem?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thak you,
Roger |

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure that it is the body bushings? How are you testing for the noise?

Well, after the body-mount bushings were lubricated, the noise stopped for a while. Maybe this was just a coincidence.
Thanks,
