I had extremely good service from two sets of BFG All-Terrain Trail TA's on my 'ol '87 F350. Though they were load range "D", I kept them at 65 PSI and the first set lasted 96K or 97K miles. The second set had 40K miles on them when I sold the truck. Granted, the F350 weighed only 5K#, but I will be very tempted to get another set when the factory BFGs on my '05 X are ready for replacement ... though I will seek a set with an "E" load rating. |

The BFG A/T, in my opinion, is the best looking tire. I have owned them in the past and it seemed they lasted longer than the Bronco. What I didn't like about them was the wear pattern and they seemed to contribute to the "wander" of the vehicle. They were competitively priced but after reading forums, it seemed more people were a lot happier with the three tires I mentioned earlier-----Nittos being the best price for perfomance. |

Uploaded pics of the new tires (click on my signature for the them.) I have to tell you, the vehicle drives and tracks 50% better.....the tires are great. Can't beat the price either. The road noise is just a hair louder, but barely noticeable. So far very pleased and hopefully they last for 40-50k miles.

I didn't realize Floridians had such great senses of humor. By the way, I have not had the chance to check the tires in sand yet, but they are excellent in the snow....haven't even used 4X4 yet and we have 4 inches on the road. |

I priced some tread today and got the following prices from Discount and want your guys opinion:
285X75X16
Michellin- $193 per GoodYear Silent Armor- $183 per
Cooper AT- $160 per
Yokohama Geolander- $137 per
My first inclination is the cheepest tire is my first option. 99.5% of the driving is "on-road" with some beach driving. I will be installing the tires myself as the dealer will not install any tire over factory size down here. |
