Overhead compass, temperature, fuel information LCD does not light up. All fuses seem to be okay. Is there a module that needs to be replaced ? It is a 2000 X Limited, 4x4, 7.3.

Check fuses 35 & 41 as they're both instrument cluster but doesn't pertain to whether it's steering wheel or overhead.

Anyone else want to chime in?

Unplugging then plugging it back in got it working again, but only until I turned the engine off. When I restarted, it would not come on. When it was on ( for about 2 minutes ) it was kind of dim, like only half illuminated. Is there a more serious problem?? Thanks,

I don't have a fuse number 35 or 41. I tried the tip Monsta gave and it worked temporarily. Thanks.

Hey guys, it turns out that the message center indicator was fried. Bought a new one for $150.00 at the Ford dealer. Easy install ( 5 minutes ) and now I know that I'm getting 17 mpg in town and 21.5 on the road, what direction I'm going and how warm it is.
