2002 X v10 2x4 rear suspension problem

I have installed the rear anti sway bar, edelbrock shocks and air bags in the rear(had to remove bump stops to install).

The rear end bottoms out over small bumps. What gives. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do i need to change the springs if so, what type?

Have alot of miles on the X?

I've found many rear spring sets settle in early causing them to not have the original arch that they had when new off the lot.Only fix is upgrading to SuperDuty A or B code springs to regain the arch which will eliminate or greatly reduce the bottom outs depending on the driving habits.

What's the difference between the A and B-code rear springs?

I purchase a set of add-a-leafs for my rear springs but still haven't installed them. I think going with a new set of rear springs is the better option for me since I have 188,000+ miles on the X, but need to go with something a little taller as I've installed V-code springs in the front already.

On Edit: Just noticed this was a post for a 2x4 model, not a 4x4 (which I have). Are there different spring recommendations for the rear on a 4x4?

Lemme get the specs for the A/B codes. The 4x2 and 4x4 platforms receive the same capacity rear springs,the 4x4 gets blocks and the 4x2 does not.

The Rear B codes are rated at 6,830 lbs
The Rear A codes are rated at 6,084 lbs.

I've seen owners use A codes on some and B codes on others when they upgraded front and rear at the same time.

I'll opt for the B codes for the extra capacity and less chance they'll rest in like the stock G codes.

4x2's don't have the anti-windup spring either.

I don't see how your truck can [i]bottom[/i] out. Especially if you have airbags! What psi do you have in the bags?

Ditto! The 2WD model OEM rear bump-stops were designed to contact the axle tube, whereas the 4WD models had a metal bump-stop "arm" protruding inboard from the spring packs with which the frame-mounted rubber bump-stops made contact. So I'm curious as to exactly what parts are contacting each other when you feel your X bottom out. Are you running a LOT of air pressure in the air-bags?

i tied rninning the recommeneded 5 psi the mfg ecommends but the problem is worse. i run about 20 psi trying to help the btm'ing out.

My next guess would be about which air-bag kit they sent you. Was it truly a kit made for a 2WD model, or did they send you a 4WD kit? I'm going out on a limb here, and will speculate that the 4WD kits are "taller" than the 2WD kits. Have you determined what parts are making contact when you bottom out? I'm wondering if a taller 4WD kit was installed, it's banging against itself.

I will check to see what is hitting. As for the bags they are : Air-lift part# - 57132

Should i upgrade the leaf springs to the a or b code as suggested?

I want to upgade the suspension. The ride quality is unbearable. their isnt enough suspension travel. i do not want to put a lift kit. is their any other suggestions. if lift kit is suggested, what would be the least lift to help with the problem.

another?

i am considering buying a toy hauler. what would be the largest trailer i can pull?
