my friend dave at PMS is making some fine aluminum trans pans.they are slightly deeper than stock(you dont need those monster pans that hold 8qts)they actually do nothing.you will gain an extra qt or two,the aluminum will dissapate heat nicely.the pans are engineered properly to hold stock filter in place.and another benefit is the rigidity(like a girdle)that this pan offers.i will be putting one on.i can get them wholesale.

How much? How much bigger? Does the new pan have fins for cooling?
I would be interested in a replacement.

Gearman. I might be interested if the price were reasonable. I have considered the Mag-Hytec because I tow, but have held off due to price and some comments I have seen that getting them to fit on the X can be problematic due to the crossmember under the tranny.
Any idea what the price will be?
Thanks for all the good posts. It's nice to read things posted by a guy who is in the business and really knows what he's doing.
Thanks!

i had a long talk with Steve Cole(TTS powersytems)about pans this afternoon.he brought up some facts about cooler pans that he thought were important.diesels need deeper pans than gas motors, because they can boil trans fluid quicker.after installing his chip,i agree.most deep pan manufacturers are using stock filter placement(that means the filter still sits in its original position)in most cases this means nothing.but if you tow,you are not getting any benefit from the extra capacity.in our discussion,i said that hot oil coming from the torque converter(trans oil at its hottest going into the cooler then returned to the pan)could not be cooled that much dumping on top of the cool fluid that never gets picked up.he agreed to a point, stating that he thought the hot and cold fluid would mix very well.i said think of a hot bowl of soup(it takes a while before the center of the soup cools to the edges) God i hope im not boring you guys, but i love this stuff, its tech!so,we agreed that a deep pan, with a filter pickup a half inch from the bottom of the pan would suck the coolest fluid back into the system.i will have a PML pan on my X tomorrow and report.if i think its worthy,i will try and sell you guys one.if its not,i will shit can it(like many other things in my business)
thanks for listening,mike

update
i picked up the pan from PML,i was impressed(my friend dave has designed artificial leg bones, tanks wheels for the Bradley, and some new stuff for the Ford GT)the pan is finned, holds about 3-4 more quarts of fluid.magnetic drain plug, allen head bolts, boss for trans temp gauge(must be drilled and tapped)i will take pictures, will need help showing them till i get my web site.the prices i have found on other pans are in the 360.00 range(yikes )i have looked at some of them today, and they are overpriced.i will be able to do way better.i dont think this is the place for me to post prices like a cheap salesman(i am an enthusiast hot rodder looking for the best price for the best quality)i will call Eric tomorrow and see how to do this properly
regards, mike

I would be interested in cost and Pictures
FYI I had a MagHtex that would not fit on my "X" and I refuse to remove or cut cross member.
Thanks
Ken

Mike, thanks. Looking forward to what Eric advises you. Don't want to fuss with the crossbar, but am interested in reasonably priced things that will preserve the tranny but not void the warranty.
Thanks!
