My local shop had the Timesert kit and uses it regularly.
Before buying the kit, I would make a couple calls.
If the plug is toward the front, they can do the repair without pulling the head.
Check all your plugs, I had 2 more on the way out. |

Well, here I am again at 207,500 miles and another plug was spit out. I guess I need to buy the repair kit from Perma-coil or Timesert and start repairing them myself. Don't like having the ole Excrusion towed to the dealers each time this happens (luckily I've been close to home when this has happened but for those long trips I use to take, I'm a little on the hesitant side now) and be charged an arm and a leg for the repair. Any recommendation on which one to purchase and to keep with the vehicle should I decide to again take it on a long trip? |

I was lucky with mine being in the front making a cheap easy repair.
If I have any future issues, both heads will be pulled and all 10 will get timeserts then I would be comforatable with the reliability. |
